About the Role

L2L is seeking a Software Engineer to join their team, focusing on their new mobile application. This role offers the opportunity to significantly impact both the product and the team's development and release processes. You will work on a single React Native and Expo codebase for iOS and Android, contributing to automated verification and release systems.

Responsibilities

Build and release L2L mobile apps that frontline workers trust, ensuring speed, stability, and reliability.
Own the full path to production, including managing a modern Expo and React Native pipeline for native builds, staged store rollouts, over-the-air updates, and post-release monitoring.
Design and extend AI-assisted pipelines for software verification on various devices.
Build features in L2L mobile apps using React Native, Expo, and TypeScript.
Own the hybrid experience where native screens meet the web platform, including authentication, deep links, and in-app browsing.
Design for the factory floor environment, considering factors like locked phones, patchy connectivity, and shared devices.
Write tests and end-to-end flows that run against simulators, emulators, and physical devices.
Own notification reliability for iOS and Android, from device registration to alert delivery.
Use error monitoring, device logs, and platform vitals to understand notification delivery behavior.
Partner with backend engineers on alerting services.
Run the release train, including app store builds, staged rollouts, over-the-air updates, and version compatibility.
Maintain and improve CI pipelines and release tooling.
Monitor adoption and error rates post-release and take action.
Extend tooling for automated verification and release pipelines.
Build the pipeline from pull request through automated verification to staged release.
Incorporate crash reports, product analytics, and release health into automated systems.
Utilize and verify AI coding tools, holding generated code to a high standard.
Ship fixes and features in the Python and Django backend and Vue frontend when necessary.
Coordinate with web and backend teams on API changes affecting mobile users.
Read session analytics and crash data to identify user struggles and prioritize work.
Participate in customer calls and pilot rollouts, bringing findings back to Product and Engineering.
Write clear investigation notes, tickets, and release summaries.

Requirements

3+ years of professional software engineering experience, including shipping a production mobile or frontend application.
Strong TypeScript and working knowledge of React Native or React.
Experience shipping a React Native or Expo app to both stores, or strong evidence of ability to learn quickly.
Interest in building developer tooling and automated testing infrastructure.
Comfort working in a Python web backend and reading unfamiliar code.
Experience releasing to the Apple App Store and Google Play, including staged rollouts and post-release monitoring.
Track record of taking a vague report to a confirmed fix in production and explaining the process.
Clear written communication skills for an asynchronous, distributed team.
Experience with push notifications, hybrid WebView apps, authentication flows, or observability tooling such as Sentry is a plus.
Experience in manufacturing, industrial software, or frontline workforce technology is a plus.
