About the Role

The Arc Westchester, a leading non-profit agency serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), is seeking a Transition Program Facilitator/Instructor to serve as the program instructor for curriculum-based services within the Transition Academy. This role offers valuable hands-on experience for those interested in a career in Special Education, developing teaching skills by providing lessons to individuals with developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, evaluate, and implement curriculum, lesson plans, and manage the learning environment.
  • Utilize technology for curriculum execution, teaching, and data collection.
  • Implement activities for social, technology, employment/career development, and independent living skills.
  • Assist individuals in learning new skills in socialization, independent living, technology and apps, career and employment, emotional regulation and behavior, and self-care.
  • Support each individual to participate, communicate, and thrive in the program.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required; some college preferred.
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, and/or young adults with IDD and families.
  • A valid NYS driver's license.
  • Ability to provide instruction, support, and guidance when implementing activities.
  • Ability to use multiple types of technology, including smart board, mobile devices, iPad, Google Drive, Google Slides, Chromebooks, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to function as a self-starter and problem-solver.
