About the Role

The Job Placement Specialist coordinates, develops, and implements employment opportunities using Person-Centered Planning methods. This role focuses on job development for both group and individual employment.

Responsibilities

Build relationships with families, employers, and regulatory entities.
Adhere to all relevant regulatory health and safety standards.
Remain current on labor market information for employment opportunities.
Conduct community relation visits to employers, associations, and unions to promote employment and partnership possibilities.
Refer individuals to prospective employers and accompany them to interviews.
Carry a caseload and complete required documentation and database entries.
Ensure all employment opportunities meet Department of Labor regulations.
Maintain and secure consumer records with all required information.
Provide travel, training, and job coaching as needed.
Provide training to maximize individual independence.

Requirements

Requires High School Diploma; Bachelor's degree preferred.
A valid NYS Driver’s License and a reliable car.
One (1) year of experience with the IDD population.
Must be flexible, reliable, and take initiative.
Ability to work effectively with employers, families, interdepartmental staff, other community, and corporate contacts.
