About the Role
The Resident Care Aide is responsible for the supervision of residents, personal care, case management, social programming, and housekeeping tasks, ensuring the safety, welfare, and comfort of each resident.
Responsibilities
- Remain awake and alert for the entire working shift
- Report any problems, irregularities, concerns, or questions to the Care Supervisor and/or Case Manager
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for Residents
- Follow The Inn at Menorah Park's Medical Emergencies Policy and Procedures
- Assist in any medically necessary transfers and contact appropriate personnel
- Follow The Inn at Menorah Park's Incident Reporting and Mandated Reporting Requirements
- Follow all instructions provided by supervisors
- Perform showers and personal care assistance as directed
- Assist with serving and oversee resident well-being during meals
- Assist and supervise medications as directed and document in EMAR
- Complete required documentation neatly, organized, and timely
- Complete all documentation per policy and procedure during your shift
- Enter any visible change of status or irregularities on assignment sheets
- Communicate every illness, accident, incident, and resident transfer to supervisors
- Walk rounds with incoming shift and make report
- Complete daily neat and tidy tasks according to the schedule
- Consistently demonstrate respect and compassion for all residents
- Respect resident privacy and personal property
- Conduct and supervise any evacuation or implementation of the disaster or emergency plan
- Assist with obtaining weights for residents and document accordingly
- Assist with prompting, reminding, and escorting residents to activities and meals
- Assist Activities Director with activities and programming
- Assist Residents in completing and submitting grievances and recommendations
- Listen for and answer "call bells" promptly
- Assist any resident as needed in accordance with their Resident Care plan
- Assist to distribute all resident mail and correspondence
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Demonstrate evidence of good moral character, good judgment, compassion, and awareness of issues facing client population
- Maintain a calm demeanor
- Willing and able to follow directions
- Clear, concise communication skills including reading, writing, and speaking English
- Ability to lift 25 or more pounds
- Ability to bend, reach, lift, and climb stairs without risk of injury
- Ability to use general household cleaning chemicals
- Possess average or better sight, hearing, and tactile senses
Skills
- Organizational skills preferred
- Time management skills preferred
- Basic first aid training required
- Medication Assistance desirable
- Training in care of dependent adults desirable
