About the Role
As a Cloud Operations Engineer at IONOS, you will be a technical advisor and operations engineer for enterprise customers, analyzing customer workloads, debugging complex issues, and developing permanent solutions or workarounds. You will automate recurring problems and tasks using scripts and tools, collaborate with development and sales teams to enhance quality and stability, and monitor the cloud infrastructure, acting proactively in case of errors. You will also work in sensitive environments adhering to security and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Act as a technical advisor and ops engineer for enterprise customers in complex environments.
- Analyze customer workloads, debug complex issues, and create permanent solutions or workarounds.
- Automate recurring problems/tasks using scripts and tools (AI).
- Liaise with development and sales teams to improve quality and stability.
- Work in sensitive environments under security and compliance requirements.
- Monitor cloud infrastructure and act proactively in case of errors.
Requirements
- Several years of experience in operating cloud infrastructures, Linux, networks, virtualization (Qemu / KVM), containers (Kubernetes), storage systems, and web requests (APIs).
- Strong customer-first mentality and high problem-solving competence.
- Enthusiasm for error analysis (log files, traces, metrics) and troubleshooting.
- Skills in debugging networks (LAN/WAN/VPN, DNS, DHCP).
- Knowledge of S3 and storage systems (File, Object, Block).
- Experience with common monitoring and alerting systems (Prometheus, Grafana, OpsGenie, or similar).
- Knowledge of common development and deployment tools (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform, Git).
- Experience with ticket and documentation systems (Jira, Confluence, or similar).
- Knowledge in scripting and software development, ideally also using AI tools.
- Willingness to undergo an extended security review (SÜ2).
- Fluent German and English language skills.
