About the Role
The Building Maintenance Associate supports the day-to-day maintenance and operational needs of office facilities in Toronto. This role is responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, supporting workplace functionality, coordinating minor repairs, and assisting with overall building operations to help ensure a safe, clean, and efficient environment for employees and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine building maintenance tasks including minor repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance activities.
- Support general upkeep of office spaces, meeting rooms, common areas, and back-of-house facilities.
- Assist with furniture moves, workstation setups, and office reconfigurations.
- Monitor building conditions and report operational or maintenance concerns promptly.
- Coordinate and support maintenance work performed by external vendors and contractors.
- Respond to facilities service requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist with lighting replacements, basic plumbing fixes, minor carpentry, and general maintenance duties.
- Support office setup activities for meetings, events, and workplace initiatives.
- Maintain tools, maintenance supplies, and storage areas in an organized manner.
- Support compliance with workplace safety procedures and building policies.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify potential safety hazards or maintenance issues.
- Assist with emergency response procedures and after-hours support when required.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and service records.
- Coordinate access and escort vendors or service providers when needed.
- Assist with tracking maintenance activities, work orders, and operational documentation.
- Support inventory management for maintenance and facilities supplies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2–4 years of experience in building maintenance, facilities support, or general maintenance roles.
- Experience in commercial or corporate office environments preferred.
- Basic knowledge of building systems including HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Ability to use common maintenance tools and equipment safely.
- Familiarity with workplace health and safety practices.
- Ability to adapt to changing operational priorities and workplace needs.
