About the Role
The Banquet Captain is responsible for directing banquet servers in the proper set-up and execution of banquet and special events. The position also acts as a banquet server, providing guests with an enjoyable, expertly served dining and beverage experience. The Banquet Captain takes direction from management to assist in a supervisory role on the floor for set up, service, and breakdown of events.
Responsibilities
- Report to work on time, well-groomed in approved attire.
- Review and understand all function sheets to coordinate scheduled events.
- Assist with training of banquet staff and floor plan creation.
- Inspect function rooms prior to events to ensure setup, menu, and schedule conform to the function sheet.
- Greet clients prior to functions and remain present throughout to assist as needed.
- Direct and assist banquet staff during events to ensure client specifications and service standards are met.
- Prepare and present accurate function bills to clients and collect payment in the manager's absence.
- Maintain weekly inventory requisitions for product and liquor.
- Complete monthly upkeep, maintenance, and inventory of service equipment and work areas.
- Supervise cleanup and breakdown of functions, accounting for all equipment and supplies.
- Maintain a current understanding of information security policies and procedures.
- Provide exceptional customer service and communicate in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner.
- Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors, managers, and staff.
- Meet attendance guidelines and adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
- Complete all required SGC Training programs within nine months of employment.

Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment.
- Ability to communicate in English.
- Must be able to work in a fast pace, busy and noisy environment.
- Excellent guest relation skills and an ability to be attentive and anticipate all guest needs are necessary.
- Must be able to stand, walk and move through all areas of the Casino for a lengthy period of time – up to nine (9) hours.
- Occasionally lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Must be able to exert well-paced mobility to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
- Must have the ability to work indoors/outdoors as well as in extreme temperatures.
- Must maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast paced environment and effectively deal with customers, management, employees, and members of the business community in all situations.
- Must be able to work in an environment where smoking is permitted.
Skills
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Proficient computer skills preferred.
- Fine dining experience preferred.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to write routine correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively and interact well with customers and employees.
- Ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
