About the Role

Responsibilities
- Conduct coverage analysis to determine billing responsibility in compliance with institutional policies and federal regulations.
- Develop detailed budgets for grant and sponsor proposals according to guidelines.
- Advise PIs on budgeting strategies, allowable costs, and sponsor limitations.
- Prepare budget justifications and assist with sponsor budget forms and internal routing documentation.
- Interpret and apply sponsor guidelines, funding opportunity announcements, and regulatory requirements.
- Translate and adapt sponsor- or grant-provided budgets into standardized institutional budget templates.
- Coordinate with institutional offices to ensure timely and compliant proposal submissions.
- Serve as a liaison between PIs and administrative units to gather required proposal components.
- Review draft proposals for financial accuracy and consistency prior to submission.
- Track submission timelines and ensure adherence to internal and external deadlines.
- Provide training and guidance to faculty and staff on budget development and pre-award processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in pre-award research administration or financial proposal development.
- Experience in a university, academic medical center, or nonprofit research setting preferred.
- Familiarity with federal regulations (e.g., OMB Uniform Guidance) and major sponsor guidelines.
