About the Role
This role is responsible for the oversight of single and/or multiple sites/fleets under one cost center with one or more managers. The incumbent will leverage strategic management and leadership over all aspects of operational performance, including problem identification, solution implementation, financial performance, and overall Safety and DOT compliance of assigned fleets. Flexibility in scheduling to satisfy demand is required, including day, night, and weekend shifts.
Responsibilities
- Promote, manage, and maintain a positive work environment to improve operational efficiency, employee engagement, and driver retention.
- Create and direct managers in executing a plan for forecasted freight volumes and power/equipment needs, adjusting capacity for seamless fleet/carrier and equipment coverage.
- Train on and audit all processes and procedures for day-to-day operations, identifying and implementing process enhancements.
- Communicate with customers, internal departments, and team to identify and resolve operational issues.
- Oversee assigned fleet operations, including driver board coverage, customer service, safety, compliance, driver retention, and employee scorecard management.
- Manage financial performance, including cost control, expense management, and profitability maximization.
- Evaluate and present design versus actual data analysis for each customer through business reviews and account assessments.
- Compile reports on operational, financial, and service metrics, monitoring and resolving deviations from key performance indicators.
- Ensure fleet compliance with all Safety and DOT training, partnering with internal personnel to address specific safety needs.
- Facilitate employee training and development, monitoring performance progress to promote, engage, and retain employees.
- Serve as an escalation point of contact with assigned customers/ramp to provide exceptional service and ensure account safety, efficiency, and profitable operation.
- Assist in the creation of an annual budget, audit current year performance against budget, and provide feedback on budget updates.
- Ensure compliance with all Safety and DOT training requirements.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED with 4-5 years of supervisory experience and/or military equivalent OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration/Management, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field with 2-3 years of supervisory experience and/or military equivalent.
- Possess a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record.
- Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed.
- Willing to travel to account, customer, and company event locations when applicable.
- Ability to process information with high levels of accuracy.
- Anticipate, recognize, and deal effectively with existing or potential conflicts.
- Ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments.
- Establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
