About the Role
This role involves building tools and systems that enhance the efficiency and problem-solving capabilities of the entire company, moving beyond traditional product development to address foundational issues and invent novel solutions.
Responsibilities
- Decide what should exist, identifying and framing high-leverage problems for technical direction.
- Build solutions end-to-end, from whiteboarding and prototyping to architecture and production.
- Build with AI as a first-class tool, extending an in-house agentic AI platform.
- Replace bottlenecks by re-architecting risky, manual pathways into secure, self-service tools.
- Multiply the organization's impact by creating platforms, patterns, and standards for other engineers.
- Make work legible by socializing designs and defending architectures to various stakeholders.
- Own shipped work, including event-driven on-call responsibilities.
Requirements
- A track record of shipping tools and platforms that others depend on and that existed before you built them.
- Ability to reverse-engineer and understand complex, cross-team systems.
- Fluency with LLMs, agents, and self-hosted models, with judgment on their leverage.
- Demonstrated ability to make engineers materially better through mentorship or platform creation.
- Strong, general engineering ability, including full-stack and production-quality development.
- Ability to identify and address normalized bottlenecks.
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with 3+ years of experience; or equivalent related work experience.
- Strong proficiency in backend and scripting languages (C#, Go, Python).
- Experience building and consuming APIs at scale.
- Knowledge of containerized applications and cloud-native environments.
- Advanced experience with Grafana, Splunk, and telemetry pipelines.
- Familiarity with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Experience designing self-service tools for observability data access.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across OS, app, and network layers.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Internet Information Services and/or NGINX websites.
- Knowledge and troubleshooting of Linux operating systems, particularly Red Hat or CentOS.
- Fluent written and oral communication in English.
- Authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
