About the Role
Senior Mechanical Engineer responsible for the design, build, installation, startup, and debug of mechanical handling and process equipment in a manufacturing environment. This is a highly hands-on role requiring direct involvement with equipment installation, troubleshooting, startup, and vendor coordination.
Responsibilities
- Design detailed mechanical equipment using SolidWorks and machine design principles.
- Apply mechanical engineering principles including mechanics, hydraulics, thermodynamics, metallurgy, and structural analysis.
- Support equipment build, installation, startup, and debug activities.
- Verify equipment builds and layouts against engineering drawings.
- Provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical support during installation and startup.
- Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, controls, facilities, IT, operations, vendors, and other project teams.
- Manage mechanical and electrical trades during equipment installation and debug.
- Apply machine guarding and OSHA safety standards.
- Travel to suppliers/vendors for equipment checkout as needed; approximately 25% travel.
Requirements
- 7+ years of mechanical equipment design experience.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks.
- Experience with structural FEA analysis.
- Hands-on experience designing, installing, starting up, and debugging manufacturing equipment.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience coordinating mechanical and electrical installation teams.
- Knowledge of machine guarding and OSHA safety standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse, cross-functional teams.
- Ability to travel approximately 25%.
