About the Role

Seeking an experienced Tax Associate Director (or Director) to lead tax matters across UK, EMEA, and APAC operations. This high-impact individual contributor role reports to the UK Finance Director and is responsible for corporate tax compliance, reporting, transfer pricing, planning, advisory, and risk management. The position offers significant opportunities for leadership and growth within a fast-paced fintech business.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end tax compliance cycle, including preparation/review and filing of corporate income tax returns, VAT/GST, and withholding taxes.
  • Oversee the calculation and review of current and deferred tax provisions under IFRS/US GAAP for regional entities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax disclosures in statutory financial statements.
  • Collaborate with Head of Tax on global tax strategy, ensuring regional alignment with group-wide objectives.
  • Assist with development and implementation of tax planning initiatives to optimize effective tax rate and maximize efficiency.
  • Assist with M&A tax due diligence, post-acquisition tax integration, and legal entity rationalization.
  • Act as internal tax advisor for various business units and stakeholders.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments in UK, EMEA, and APAC jurisdictions and assess business impact.
  • Support global transfer pricing policies, including local file requirements and intercompany agreements.
  • Identify and assess tax implications across UK, EMEA, and APAC subsidiaries.
  • Maintain robust internal controls to ensure compliance and mitigate tax risk.
  • Manage relationships with tax authorities and assist with tax controversy and audits.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of technology automation initiatives for financial reporting and tax compliance.
  • Assist in operational aspects of the tax function to support tax needs.
  • Gain a deep understanding of the company’s operations and businesses.
  • Assist with special projects and initiatives, including systems implementation and automation.
  • Support other tax workstreams, if needed (e.g., FATCA/CRS).

Requirements

  • Significant hands-on tax experience and in-depth understanding of UK, EMEA, and Asia corporate tax gained in-house at a multinational company.
  • Exceptional technical knowledge of international tax principles.
  • Deep expertise in UK corporate tax is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of EMEA and APAC tax regimes strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record managing transfer pricing frameworks in a multi-jurisdictional setting.
  • Experience supporting new business development and M&A transactions, including due diligence, structuring, and integration.
  • Background in financial services and/or fintech and understanding of the securities industry and broker-dealer businesses is highly desired.
  • Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work well independently and within a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborative working style with cross-functional/business segment teams across geographies.
