About the Role
As a Field Engineer, you will be the driving force behind projects, providing technical engineering information to ensure construction work complies with all engineering standards, codes and contract specifications. SPC Construction aims to be a launching pad for engineers, offering meaningful responsibilities, mentorship, and the opportunity to see real impact from their work in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Meet daily with project crews to review production schedule and confirm availability of materials, equipment, and resources.
- Collect, coordinate, and analyze shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements, and project data to ensure quality and compliance.
- Provide technical input for project work plans and scheduling, identifying risks that could impact budget or schedule.
- Evaluate daily production, schedule, and budget projections to track project performance.
- Document daily activities using approved methods and technologies.
- Submit accurate project quantity input and controls using assigned project cost coding for financial reporting.
- Manage cost coding with finance and accounting teams regarding employee time, materials, equipment, and subcontractor needs.
- Review and approve daily timecards for all construction crews, resolving inquiries as needed.
- Review project specifications for quality assurance at all project stages.
- Initiate and manage appropriate certificates, inspections, and other documentation regarding construction production.
- Plan field layout with construction crews and engineering leaders, ensuring utility lines are marked before production begins.
- Initiate and manage necessary permits before work commences.
- Assist in the development of design drawings and provide technical input.
- Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedules, and crews.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field required.
- Construction engineering experience or knowledge required.
- Beginner knowledge of construction equipment & techniques, drawing & specifications, building materials and required standards applicable to the project.
- Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate effectively with others.
