About the Role
Axon 911 combines Prepared and Carbyne to create a platform integrating modern 911 infrastructure with an AI intelligence layer, aiming to improve public safety response times and decision-making. Joining this team means shaping the future of emergency response and building a safer, more connected world.
Responsibilities
- Work on a small team building high-performance, mission-critical devices with low-latency communication requirements.
- Tackle challenging engineering problems in areas like audio/video processing and generative AI to bring new features and products from inception to scale.
- Thoughtfully balance speed with the high bar for stability necessitated by the mission-critical nature of our products.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to architect and launch new user-facing features and products.
- Design and drive initiatives to improve the availability and reliability of backend systems.
- Continuously help improve engineering processes and tools for scaling the codebase and team.
- Provide mentorship to less experienced engineers.
- Travel occasionally to support customer deployments and onsite implementations.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, including designing, building, and operating complex production systems.
- Hands-on experience developing real-time communication platforms or other low-latency, real-time systems.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
- Proven experience building highly available, fault-tolerant, and resilient services at scale.
- Expertise in reliability patterns such as redundancy, failover, graceful degradation, recovery, and observability.
- Demonstrated technical ownership of business-critical systems where performance, uptime, and reliability are essential.
- Experience adopting and effectively integrating AI-assisted development tools throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC) to improve engineering productivity, code quality, testing, documentation, and delivery.
