About the Role
Standard Bots aims to reduce the barrier to entry for real-world automation, empowering users and developers to solve challenges without prior robotics or automation expertise. This role on the AI team will build the essential systems that support our AI models, including data pipelines, training infrastructure, perception integration, and customer-facing product surfaces.
Responsibilities
- Identify, scope, and drive high impact technical and user facing projects across the AI team's stack.
- Ship the product surfaces that expose AI capabilities to users.
- Mentor and advise other engineers on technical and personal advancement.
- Drive technical decision making and implementation through hands-on and technically deep work.
- Own data pipelines: ingestion of teleop and demonstration data, labeling and curation tooling, dataset quality metrics.
- Own training and evaluation infrastructure: training pipelines, experiment tracking, GPU orchestration, model versioning, and deployment out to robots.
- Own perception integration: camera calibration, vision pipelines, and getting model outputs into the robot runtime reliably.
Requirements
- Approximately 70% back-end and 30% front-end work with flexibility.
- Breadth of experience reaching into at least one AI-adjacent domain.
- 5-10 years of experience working in complex environments.
- Professional experience in at least one of ML Ops, data pipelines, or computer vision.
- Experience building training or inference infrastructure.
- Experience running large-scale data ingestion and curation.
- Experience shipping a vision pipeline to production.
- Excited by new domains and challenges.
- Eager to pick up new context to accelerate impact.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to support peers with communication skills.
- Relentlessly seek user impact and value execution over technical idealism.
