About the Role
As an Instructor Therapist at TELUS Health Children Support, you will play a crucial role in helping children achieve developmental milestones, enhance independence, and improve their quality of life through targeted therapy interventions.
Responsibilities
- Implement Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs to help children develop communication, social, and life skills while reducing challenging behaviors in a fun, supportive environment.
- Deliver individualized behavioral programming using evidence-based strategies like Discrete Trial Training (DTT) and Natural Environment Teaching (NET).
- Accurately collect and graph real-time data on learner performance to ensure clinical decisions are based on objective evidence.
- Work alongside Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and Occupational Therapists (OTs) to generalize skills across different therapeutic domains.
- Implement Positive Behavior Support plans to help children safely navigate frustration and develop emotional regulation skills.
- Prepare instructional materials and maintain a clean, organized, and engaging treatment space.
Requirements
- Completed post-secondary in a related field or equivalent work-related experience.
- Experience working with children and teens with a developmental disability diagnosis or similar.
- Comprehensive knowledge of ABA principles, practices, and procedures.
- Previous in-clinic experience supporting a pediatric population.
- Excellent clinical and professional judgment aligned with accepted practice models.
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize workload, and adapt to a dynamic caseload.
