About the Role

The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education is seeking individuals to supervise students before and after school, during lunch, and on and off school buses. This role is crucial for fostering a safe and inclusive school environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision for students before and after school as indicated by the principal.
  • Provide supervision for students during the lunch or noon hour break as indicated by the principal.
  • Supervise washrooms during lunch hour, ensuring they are checked before and after student use, and preventing food or drink from being taken into washrooms.
  • Clear, wipe tables, and sweep floors after students leave for class.
  • Familiarize themselves with any medical or other problems the children under their supervision may have.
  • Supervise students boarding or disembarking school buses before school and after dismissal.
  • Report any problems that occur during supervision to the principal or designate.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Upload a completed resume with the application.

  • Reference letters are preferred and should be uploaded along with the resume.
  • Submit a clear Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector Check) and Child Abuse Registry Check dated within the last 6 months upon successful hiring.
  • Grade 12 education or an acceptable equivalent in experience.
  • Ability to work with children and provide assistance.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform work as required in the posted position.
  • Must be reliable and conscientious.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
