About the Role

The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education is seeking casual school secretaries to provide reception, secretarial, and accounting services to schools within the region. We foster a caring, dynamic, and creative environment committed to student success.

Responsibilities

  • Perform reception duties including answering telephones, greeting visitors, and handling inquiries.
  • Present a positive image of the school when interacting with students, teachers, and the public.
  • Type school correspondence, reports, and documentation.
  • Prepare correspondence and sort/distribute incoming mail.
  • Handle school and student funds, maintaining accurate accounts and banking records.
  • Record and submit employee absences and attendances.
  • Input and access student information system data under the direction of school administration.
  • Generate reports and documentation from the student information system.
  • Compile reports and statistics as required by the principal, school board office, and the Department of Education.
  • Compile bulk orders for school needs and assist in preparation, including school book bureau orders.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Upload a completed resume.

  • Include a copy of your related diploma/degree and/or transcript.
  • Enter 3 references, including current or former supervisors.
  • Submit a clear Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector Check) and Child Abuse Registry Check dated within the last 6 months upon hiring.
  • Experience and proficiency with typing, word processing, databases, and spreadsheet programs is required.
  • Applicants should be innovative and creative with respect to utilizing technology.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  • A competency test will be required for all applicants.

Salary/Compensations

  • $31.48 per hour
