About the Role
Assists with nursing care of the patient in the LDRP. Performs scrub and related duties with a Registered Nurse. Is responsible for the immediate sterile field and instrumentation. Assists with preparation, maintenance, and cleanup of supplies and equipment. Facilitates within the surgical suite.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of patients served.
- Interprets data about patient's status to identify age-specific needs and provide care needed by patient group.
- Implements actions to prevent patient injury from positioning, extraneous objects, medications, infection, and chemical/physical/electrical hazards.
- Stocks and restocks supplies utilized in all areas of the LDRP.
- Assists with turnover of labor rooms and cleaning/maintenance of equipment.
- Assists in nursing care under the direction of the RN for patients in the LDRP.
- Demonstrates principles of asepsis.
- Prepares and organizes materials recognizing special needs of patient, procedure, and/or surgeon.
- Checks and maintains specialty and department equipment and supplies as assigned.
- Safely operates all equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
- Ensures all necessary instrumentation and equipment are in working order.
- Implements case breakdown procedure ensuring minimal downtime between cases.
- Demonstrates basic clinical and technical skills according to established standards of practice.
- Performs desk duties such as answering phones, physician paging, releasing the door, greeting patients, and other clerical functions as needed.
- Adheres to all safety procedures in the handling of hazardous materials and blood borne pathogens.
- Adheres to LDRP O.R. dress code.
- Meets performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and staff and self-development.
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit.
Requirements
- Previous Operating Room Experience Preferred.
- BLS Required.
- National Certification Required.
- CPR Certification Required.

Education Level
- High School Diploma Or Equivalent
