About the Role
The 2nd Press Operator is responsible for optimizing profitability by performing tasks with the highest level of efficiency, including maintaining quality, performing make-readies, equipment maintenance, and managing their press crew to ensure consistent productivity.
Responsibilities

- Operate with the highest level of efficiency and productivity
- Familiarity with a densitometer and its functions (Density, dot gain, print contrast and hue)
- Pull and hang plates
- Pull job in register
- Cut coating blanket
- Check grain direction
- Line up sheet checking for size, straightness, correct pagination, bleed requirements, position of sheet to the HP screen, die vinyl or grain direction (40-inch Presses)
- Check to be sure proper coating is used
- Set up and run feeder or assist Feeder Tender when needed
- Watch both sides of sheet for defects (scratches picks water, oil spots, draws, cracks, smashes, missed side guide etc.)
- Ensure the Press checklist is filled out and placed on the last load
- Review and sign off on all fanned out sheets
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of machine press operation
- Basic math skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
- Ability to work well with co-workers in a team environment
- Ability to operate computer-based technology
- Regularly required to talk or hear
- Regularly required to sit, regular use of hands
- Frequently required to stand and walk
- Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and use foot/feet to operate machine
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to work under pressure with ever changing deadlines and priorities
