About the Role
As a Working Student on the Aggregate team, you will contribute real, production-bound code to Solactive's core Java platform and Python integrations. You will work alongside senior engineers, gaining hands-on experience and coaching.
Responsibilities
- Implement well-scoped features and fixes in the Java calculation platform.
- Write unit, integration, and performance tests.
- Investigate correctness or performance issues and propose fixes.
- Build and maintain Python integrations for business teams.
- Contribute to monitoring and developer tooling.
- Participate in design and code reviews.
- Document learnings to facilitate knowledge transfer.
Requirements
- Enrolled student in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
- Strong Java fundamentals including object-oriented design, collections, and generics.
- Solid grounding in core computer science concepts: data structures, algorithms, complexity, multithreading, and concurrency.
- Willingness to learn and use Python for integration and tooling.
- Familiarity with Git, the command line, and a testing mindset.
- Interest in measuring performance.
- Ability to work independently on scoped tasks.
- Ability to ask for help early when stuck.
- Clear written communication skills.
- Available for 15–20 hours per week during the semester.
- Interest in financial markets, market data, or index calculation is a plus.
