About the Role

Student Nurse Externs will provide direct personal support to patients, focusing on basic care and assisting with activities of daily living. This role offers an opportunity to gain experience within medicine and surgical programs at a leading digital hospital.

Responsibilities

Provide direct personal support to patients.
Deliver basic care, including activities of daily living (bathing, toileting, feeding).
Document activities of daily living (ADLs), intake and output, and relevant patient communication.
Immediately report any clinical concerns to the direct supervisor.
Work under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in years 2-4 of a nursing program.
Current CPR certification required.
Excellent communication skills.
Exceptional customer service skills.
Must be a team player.
Ability to accurately and effectively communicate with inter-professional healthcare team members.
Demonstrates understanding of the use of technology.
Ability to provide basic assistive care with frequent supervision and ongoing mentoring.
Mandatory compliance with HRH training: Privacy & Confidentiality, WHMIS, Fire & Safety, hand hygiene modules.
Good work attendance.
Understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices is an asset.
