About the Role
The Field Coordinator is responsible for all activities related to projects or personnel assigned to their team or region, working closely with the VP of Construction, Field Teams, and Project Teams.
Responsibilities
- Assist Director of Field Operations in hiring new staff members.
- Train team members in proper estimating, scheduling, and construction management techniques.
- Delegate responsibility to team members and monitor their progress.
- Assist Director of Field Operations in employee evaluation and compensation recommendations.
- Assist in terminating team members when appropriate, with approval from senior leadership.
- Monitor team member workload for productivity and efficiency.
- Ensure team members participate in educational opportunities.
- Assist Director of Field Operations in monitoring field operation “Action Plans”.
- Participate significantly in presentations to prospective clients.
- Participate in past and continuing client contact programs.
- Sell Ryan Companies US, Inc. to the public.
- Assist project management/preconstruction in proposal stage with scheduling, logistics and budgeting.
- Ensure every project has someone assigned with “bottom line” responsibility.
- Review all estimates generated within the team for completeness and competitiveness.
- Ensure team members use appropriate “Ryan Tools” consistently.
- Ensure team members maintain Ryan’s ethical standards and competitive practices.
- Ensure safety policies and procedures are implemented and enforced.
- Review safety audits for leading indicators and field team observations, providing monthly feedback.
- Create a first-class safety culture with a focus on mission-critical hazards.
- Review schedules, coordinate milestone deliveries, and assist with recovery schedules.
- Achieve maximum profit on each project consistent with Ryan’s long-term interests.
- Ensure proper cost control techniques are used on all projects.
- Ensure good communication and coordination between office and field staff.
- Ensure proper communication and documentation procedures are adhered to.
- Ensure all project meetings are held.
- Ensure high quality and quantity of work is completed on schedule and budget.
- Ensure projects are closed out properly and punch list work is completed timely.
- Ensure accounts payable and accounts receivable are kept current.
- Assist project team members in approval and monitoring of subcontractors.
- Minimize warranty issues through good reviews and management.
- Further develop and train subordinates on computer programs.
- Stay current on regional union issues and assist with project labor agreements.
- Communicate company policies and procedures to team members.
- Encourage new ideas from team members and communicate them to senior leadership.
- Provide periodic information for company communications.
- Actively participate in Field Manager/Field Coordinator meetings and support decisions.
- Work on special projects pertaining to the Sector.
- Exhibit leadership qualities by setting a good example.
- Assist the Director of Field Operations in project and personnel assignments and workload monitoring.
- Remain current with new developments in the construction industry and communicate them to team members.
- Mentor and train employees for personal and professional growth, focusing on leadership, scheduling, quality control, client relations, and safety.
Requirements
- Position requires verification of employment to work in the U.S.
- 5–10 years of successful experience as a Senior Superintendent, with a proven track record of delivering high-complexity, high-reliability projects (e.g., data centers, advanced technology facilities, healthcare central utility plants, or cleanrooms).
- Direct experience overseeing complex, fast-track MEP installations, high-voltage electrical distribution, central cooling infrastructure, and Level 1–5 commissioning (Cx) processes.
- Thorough, expert-level knowledge of every physical and logistical aspect of building projects.
- Deep understanding of building automation systems (BAS), critical power/cooling redundancy (UPS, generators, chillers), and life safety controls.
- Exceptional ability to supervise, motivate, and communicate effectively with large, diverse field teams and specialized subcontractors.
- Strong professional sales ability, executive presence, and a high sensitivity to client operational needs.
