About the Role
NTT DATA is seeking a Data Center Senior Technician to support a client's data center and IT closets in Buffalo, NY. This role involves managing work orders, scheduling shifts, training technicians, and ensuring the day-to-day delivery of IT services.
Responsibilities
- Manage work order queue
- Assign technicians and schedule shift activity
- Train and mentor technicians
- Communicate with peer lead technicians for operational handoffs
- Perform move, add, and change (MAC) requests, including hardware installs and network cabling
- Complete hardware break/fix tickets, including troubleshooting, connectivity issues, and hardware replacement
- Check supplies in and out from the inventory management system
- Maintain current and accurate inventory using DC Portal
- Maintain work area in a safe and orderly manner, ensuring tools and supplies are properly stored
- Provide data center escorts as requested
- Perform QA checks on work orders
- Perform backup tape operations and amber light tours
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support when required
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of Data Center Operation experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience within a Data Center
- Minimum 5 years of experience performing Data Center-Tape Operations/Smart hands/Device reboots
Skills
- Ability to communicate (oral/written) effectively to exchange information with our client
- Generate and communicate ideas to improve processes for the client
