About the Role

The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education (CBVRCE) is seeking individuals to maintain the cleanliness and safety of school facilities. This role is crucial in fostering a positive learning environment for approximately 12,000 students across 38 schools.

Responsibilities

Clean assigned areas of the school daily or as scheduled, adhering to established practices and standards.
Maintain adequate supplies to perform duties effectively.
Report any breakdowns, accidents, damage, or vandalism to the appropriate supervisor.
Secure all doors and windows when the building is vacated and activate the security system if last to leave.
Perform floor care duties, including stripping, sealing, waxing, and burnishing.
Comply with school, Operations Department, and Board policies and procedures, including Occupational Health and Safety, WHMIS, and evacuation plans.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Provide 3 references (managers or supervisors preferred).
Submit a clear Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector Check) and Child Abuse Registry Check dated within the last 6 months upon successful hiring.
Grade 12 education or acceptable equivalent in experience and training.
Demonstrated ability to perform required work and collaborate with others.
Must be reliable and conscientious.
Acceptable record of attendance (for those recently employed in a full-time job).
General knowledge of cleaning equipment and materials.
Experience as a Cleaner with the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board, other commercial/public institutions, or a contractor.
Ability to adequately secure a building using locks, alarm systems, and security devices.
