About the Role
As an Application Developer on our Digital Platforms team, you will work with product owners, analysts, architects and other developers to design, build, test, deploy, and support secure, reliable applications. You will contribute through implementation and continue supporting the platform after launch through enhancements, continuous improvement, and defect remediation. This role is part of a significant business and technology transformation, modernizing how advisors, customers, and employees interact with our products by building new digital platforms and adopting modern cloud and AI-assisted engineering practices.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support modern web applications and services.
- Work with business and technology partners to turn business needs into practical, customer-focused solutions.
- Build and support integrations with internal systems and external partners using APIs and event-driven patterns.
- Contribute to solution design, code reviews, automated testing, troubleshooting, and technical documentation.
- Use AI-assisted development throughout application delivery, including analysis, design, coding, testing, documentation, and problem resolution.
- Critically review AI-generated output and apply sound engineering judgment, security practices, and quality controls.
- Participate in Agile delivery activities and contribute to continuous improvement of team practices.
- Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and implement reliable long-term solutions.
Requirements
- Experience developing and supporting modern web applications through the software delivery lifecycle.
- Hands-on experience with TypeScript, React, Node.js, REST APIs, and Git-based source control.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or similar tools, to improve delivery speed, code quality, testing, troubleshooting, or documentation.
- Ability to assess AI-generated recommendations rather than accepting them at face value.
- Experience working in Agile teams with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- A collaborative mindset, curiosity, and willingness to learn new tools and approaches.
