About the Role
Stantec's NYC office is seeking a motivated Transportation Engineering Intern/Co-op for Summer 2027. This paid, full-time position focuses on improving transportation experiences and keeping communities connected.
Responsibilities
- Assist with transportation impact studies, traffic data collection and analysis, report preparation, and travel demand modeling.
- Gather traffic data from public sources and field visits.
- Analyze traffic data using Microsoft Excel, Python, and MySQL.
- Conduct traffic analyses using HCS, Synchro, and VISSIM.
- Support travel demand model calibration, validation, and scenario analysis in Cube and TransCAD.
- Provide support to roadway design and traffic engineering teams.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning, City and Regional Planning, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Economics or a related field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Effective team player in fast-paced environments.
- Strong oral, written, interpersonal, and visual communication skills.
- Familiarity with Python, C++, or Java is preferred.
- Knowledge of transportation software, including HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, Cube, and TransCAD is preferred.
- Interest and experience in travel demand modeling is a plus.
- Enrollment in an advanced degree program is a plus.
