About the Role
Find an innovative, patient-focused culture dedicated to improving patient health and quality of life. This role is crucial in maintaining the health and safety of our regional facilities.
Responsibilities
- Perform property/building maintenance of regional sites.
- Perform semi-skilled work in the maintenance, care, and modification of the Hospital and Clinics.
- Operate electrically-powered and gasoline-powered grounds keeping equipment.
- Use small hand and power tools for planting, cultivating, and trimming grounds and landscaping.
- Perform maintenance on grounds keeping equipment and tools.
- Make minor repairs to grounds keeping equipment and tools as directed.
- Change light bulbs, paint walls and woodwork.
- Repair furniture and equipment.
- Make minor carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs.
- Deliver supplies, materials, and equipment as needed.
- Be on-call for weekend, emergency maintenance, and early morning snow removal.
- Assist and work under the guidance of Regional Tradesmen on projects and daily work orders when weather prohibits outside work.
- Safely perform all phases of landscape maintenance.
- Perform all phases of snow and ice removal within department standards.
- Respond to emergency snow removal requests.
- Be on-call for emergency snow removal as scheduled.
- Safely perform building maintenance, including HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical & Carpentry.
- Assess emergent situations and perform required tasks for safety.
- Complete work orders and document completed work.
- Maintain a safe and clean work area.
- Complete basic cleanups for all assigned work.
- Observe all safety regulations, practices, policies, and procedures.
- Assist with planned maintenance repairs as assigned.
- Take direction while working with team members.
- Assist with finishing casework, counter tops, and walls.
- Assess and complete office moves across the network.
- Assess inventory items for restocking.
- Respond to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service.
- Make suggestions for increased productivity, cost savings, or improved campus aesthetics.
- Be on-call for emergency maintenance as scheduled.
- Work various shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd) and weekends as required by workload and season.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of one year of experience in property/building maintenance, landscaping, agricultural or construction trades, or one year of trade school or BOCES program, preferred.
- Must possess a valid NYS Class D driver’s license.
- Maintain eligibility of insurability to operate the organization's vehicles.
- Heavy Work - Exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs, of force constantly to move objects.
- Occasional typing/clerical/dexterity, seeing/monitor/computer use.
- Frequent balancing, climbing, crouching, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), walking.
- Constant repetitive motion, fit testing.
- Occasional bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure, burns, chemical, electrical, explosives, mechanical hazards.
- Occasional odors.
- Frequent noise, vibration, wet and/or humid, dust, fumes, gases, mists.
- Constant extreme temperatures.
- Extensive Travel - Expect to travel every week.
