About the Role
Uncommon Physical Education (PE) Teachers cultivate a passion for an active lifestyle in every student. Our PE instruction includes sports, team building exercises, and physical exercise, and is culturally-responsive and fast paced. We have built a community that encourages respect and hard work and celebrates students’ academic and nonacademic achievements. Our goal is for students to develop into strong teammates who are interested in and knowledgeable about healthy lifestyle habits. This is a TEMPORARY POSITION with an expected end date around the middle of December 2026.
Responsibilities
- Create a safe and interactive environment where students feel empowered to engage in physical activity.
- Develop students' physical fitness through team building activities, independent exercises, and structured sports and games.
- Help students build healthy habits in mindset and physical activity.
- Teach an engaging and culturally responsive PE curriculum that meets the needs of various types of learners.
- Build positive relationships with students to ensure they feel seen, loved, and heard.
- Partner with students’ families to ensure appropriate resources are available to support their child's learning needs.
- Engage in practice-based professional development, mentorship, and coaching sessions.
- Participate in weekly, school-wide meetings to cultivate community, model core values, and encourage student achievement.
- Partner with your grade level team to develop academic goals and practice instructional strategies.
Requirements

- A demonstrated commitment to supporting students’ social emotional and academic development.
- An enthusiasm for collaborating with internal and external partners in the best interest of students.
- A self-directed learner who solicits and implements feedback to improve outcomes and achieve objectives.
- A demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools and communities (1-2 years experience preferred).
- An expertise in high school education, physical education, sports science and management, kinesiology, physical fitness, or participation in collegiate athletics.
- Must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher prior to the start of employment.
- Must pass state teacher certification tests to meet MA state requirements if hired.

- $52,000 to $68,000
