About the Role
As a Tour Guide, you will be the primary contact for visitors, creating a positive impression of The Chicago Theatre, its events, and operations. You will conduct a 60-minute behind-the-scenes walking tour, ensuring guests receive a world-class experience while maintaining order and safety.
Responsibilities
- Conduct daily public tours of The Chicago Theatre in an orderly and safe fashion.
- Memorize and present a script clearly, concisely, informatively, and entertainingly.
- Assist fellow Tour Guides with large groups.
- Secure, return, and observe proper use of equipment such as radios, keys, uniform, locker room, props, and technology.
- Interact and work cordially with other departments.
- Stay informed about company and team news, and upcoming events.
- Participate in special projects and perform other assigned duties.
- Conduct a minimum of 2 tours per day.
- Provide exceptional guest experiences by adhering to appearance and presentation guidelines.
Requirements
- Experience in a tour-related or entertainment industry is desired.
- Strong public speaking and communication skills with a focus on customer service are required.
- Previous employment as a Tour Guide or experience in theater, performing arts, or communications is recommended.
- Excellent memorization and time management skills.
- Ability to articulate and inject energy and enthusiasm into presentations.
- Ability to adapt to requests and changes to the tour script, route, and assignment on short notice.
- Good organizational skills for checking in groups and collecting tickets.
- General physical requirements include lifting 25 lbs., standing for long periods, walking long distances, bending, and constant motion.
- Must be able to traverse steps, walk, and stand for long periods.
- Must be available 4 days a week, including Sundays and holidays as needed.
