About the Role
PDG is seeking a Project Engineer to lead and assist on structural projects across New York State, mentor junior staff, serve as the primary client contact, and provide guidance to project stakeholders. This role is integral in shaping the department's growth and direction.
Responsibilities
- Independently develop and/or oversee the development of structural analysis models and calculation packages.
- Delegate and/or assign design tasks to junior staff.
- Oversee and assist in the preparation of comprehensive drawing packages using Revit, AutoCAD, BIM, etc.
- Oversee and assist in the development and review of technical engineering documents, design plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
- Perform technical and quality reviews of engineering work by others.
- Coordinate with internal or external project staff, clients, and governmental agencies.
- Serve as the Engineer of Record for designs performed under direct supervision.
- May be required to travel within New York State for project design investigations and/or construction support oversight.
Requirements
- Experience with Bentley structural engineering analysis software (STAAD Pro, RAM Elements, or similar).
- Proven experience with Revit, AutoCAD, BIM, Mathcad, Bluebeam, and spreadsheet tools.
- Proven interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Proven organizational skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize.
- Proven ability to progress technical concepts from inception through final design with minimum oversight.
- Proven ability to lead small design teams and prioritize multiple assignments.
- Desire to learn and embrace technology to improve workflows.
- Ability and enthusiasm to work in a collaborative office setting.
- Desire to embrace and adhere to the PDG Quality culture.
- Understand basic safety requirements and motivation to uphold PDG safety culture.
- A Valid Driver's License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is required.
