About the Role
The Avon Group, a division of HarperCollins Publishers, is seeking an Editorial Intern to support the Romance and Science Fiction and Fantasy Team. This role offers an opportunity to learn about the editorial process within the genre fiction publishing space.
Responsibilities
- Learn about the editorial process.
- Read and evaluate proposals and manuscripts, write reader's reports, research author track records and comparison titles, and draft rejection letters.
- Research trends in editorial content, marketing approaches, and publishing trends.
- Assist with writing jacket copy.
- Assist with author/agent communications.
- Prepare manuscripts for production.
- Support editors with administrative tasks including mailings, requesting marketing materials, and other in-office duties.
Requirements
- Must be available to work in the NYC office from Monday – Thursday for a total of 28 hours per week, from June 7 – August 12, 2027.
- Must be available to work in a full-time capacity in 2027 or 2028.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.

- A passion for books is highly valued.
- Eager to learn about the publishing business.
