About the Role
Provide service associated with the administration of Employee Benefit policies and support production efforts to achieve departmental goals.
Responsibilities
- Participate in client meetings, sales calls with brokers, employee enrollment meetings, and departmental service meetings.
- Service selected Group Agency Accounts, including reconciliation of claim issues, benefit inquiries, enrollment issues, and carrier premium billing discrepancies.
- Handle telephone inquiries.
- Manage intake and audit control of enrollment information.
- Track inquiries and complaints regarding carrier claims resolution.
- Act as a liaison to intervene with delays in claim processing.
- Correspond with carriers, members, and providers to educate, clarify benefits, resolve claims, verify eligibility, and resolve disputes.
- Investigate, research, and provide timely responses to all service issues.
- Assist with the implementation of new business.
- Assist with the training of new Account Managers.
- Educate on current or pending Federal and State legislation regarding HIPAA, COBRA laws, FMLA, and other legal issues pertaining to Employee Benefits.
- Pursue a program of personal and professional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Windows environment, including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Publisher.
- Ability to create, edit, and merge letters, spreadsheets, and labels.
- Proficient knowledge of office equipment (copy machines, printers, faxes, binding machine).
- NYS Life, Accident & Health License required.
- College Degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience preferred.
- 3 years in Employee Benefits customer service at an agency or company level preferred.

- Ability to speak clearly and communicate effectively over the telephone and in person to individuals and large groups.
- Ability to listen for long periods while maintaining assimilation.
- Ability to carry out dialogue in a soothing manner, even when the other party may be rude, abusive, or argumentative.
- Capable of making independent decisions using reasonable judgment.
- Strong orientation to customer service.
- Excellent telephone and verbal skills.
Experience Level
- 3 years in Employee Benefits customer service at an agency or company level preferred.
Education Level
- College Degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience preferred.
Salary/Compensations
- 31.25 - 40.87 Hourly
