About the Role
The Practice Lead supports the Head of Strategic PMO by leading the design, development, and implementation of processes, tools, templates, and project reporting to enhance Project Management at the OSC and ensure the effective and efficient delivery of the OSC Strategic Plan. This is a business-critical role supporting the Strategic Planning, Reporting & Execution department.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of project management methodologies, standards, and best practices.
- Act as the Enterprise SME for Project Management, driving adoption of standards and best practices.
- Ensure project management solutions are fit for purpose through stakeholder engagement.
- Lead the development and implementation of frameworks for resource management, project financials, risks, outcomes, and decision-making.
- Tailor frameworks and processes to support various project types, leveraging existing CSA processes while minimizing burden.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of PMO processes by identifying and implementing enhancements.
- Assess the effectiveness of implemented frameworks.
- Provide project management support, mentorship, guidance, and direction to staff.
- Directly project manage high-priority/high-complexity policy and/or operational projects as required.
- Manage Portfolio Planning, Prioritization, and Project Intake to align resources with strategic priorities.
- Manage the Project Governance Committee, including agenda creation and driving data-driven discussions.
- Design a consistent approach to project identification, business case development, and approval processes.
- Establish post-implementation reviews and lessons learned to support continuous improvement.
- Design and implement project reporting, including creation of reports for various stakeholder audiences.
- Drive the collection, analysis, and storage of project data points.
- Define insights to create Portfolio Reporting and Dashboards to support executive decisions.
- Collaborate with the SPRE Team on evolving OSC internal reporting on priorities and projects.
Requirements
- 8+ years of relevant experience in a project management office.
- Proven experience in both project management methodology and practical project management.
- Direct experience managing enterprise-wide policy and/or operational projects across a complete project lifecycle.
- Portfolio Management experience, including creating and managing prioritization frameworks and intake processes.
- Experience using and implementing project management tools.
- Excellent time management and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and Stakeholder Management skills.
- Change Management experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of capital markets and securities regulation would be an asset.
