About the Role
Performs basic nursing skills and serves under the direction and supervision of physicians, advanced practice professionals, and registered nursing staff.
Responsibilities
- Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms, preparing for visits by obtaining initial information and vital signs.
- Prepares exam rooms for patients, ensuring cleanliness and supply availability.
- Assists with and/or performs exams, tests, and procedures.
- Schedules appointments and sets up referral contacts.
- Assists providers during patient examinations and procedures.
- Educates patients on follow-up expectations.
- Maintains quality control testing logs.
- Ensures all medical equipment is in proper working condition.
- Assists patients with completing medical documentation.
- Assists with office administrative tasks, including answering phones, taking messages, performing data entry, and assisting with closing duties.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program OR one (1) year of experience in a clinical setting.
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
- One (1) year of healthcare experience.
Skills
- Ability to use and care for all equipment including printers, embossers, and computers.
- Ability to effectively communicate with staff and patients.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments.
- Ability to work in both an independent and team setting.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
