About the Role
Cape Breton University is seeking a candidate to support the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the rink facility. The role involves ice maintenance, building and equipment maintenance, and event facilitation.
Responsibilities
- Perform ice maintenance.
- Conduct building and equipment maintenance, including preventive maintenance.
- Participate in maintenance and event facilitation in the arena complex, other recreational facilities, or around the campus when the ice plant is not in service.
- Operate a variety of equipment in the performance of duties.
- Adhere to all safety precautions and use personal protective equipment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Power Engineering Class 4 ticket or Refrigeration Class 2.
- Minimum of one (1) year related experience.
- Current First Aid course, AED and CPR, or willingness to obtain and re-certify as required.
- Demonstrated initiative to carry out job responsibilities with general direction and good judgment.
- Physically fit to carry out the requirements of the position.
- Ability to wear a respirator.
- Demonstrated good work safety record.
- Knowledge of regulatory procedures and provincial Codes/Standards.
- Thorough knowledge of area plant operations and safety protocols.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions, the N.S. OHS Act, WHMIS.
