About the Role

The post holder supports the leadership and development of the Student Mental Health Service, providing highly specialist, evidence-based support to students with moderate to severe mental health difficulties. This includes complex case management, risk assessment and crisis response; coordinated multi-agency liaison with statutory and external services; and the development of inclusive, accessible support pathways across the University. The role provides agreed line-management and clinical/operational supervision to Mental Health Advisers, ensures continuity of support during staff absence, contributes to service improvement and data-informed practice, and offers specialist consultation and training to academic and professional services colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide highly specialist, evidence-based support to students with moderate to severe mental health difficulties.
  • Manage complex cases, conduct risk assessments, and provide crisis response.
  • Coordinate multi-agency liaison with statutory and external services.
  • Develop inclusive, accessible support pathways across the University.
  • Provide line-management and clinical/operational supervision to Mental Health Advisers.
  • Ensure continuity of support during staff absence.
  • Contribute to service improvement and data-informed practice.
  • Offer specialist consultation and training to academic and professional services colleagues.

Requirements

  • Professionally registered mental health practitioner.
  • Significant experience in mental health practice.
  • Strong safeguarding skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
