About the Role
JM Murray holds a contract partnership with New York State Industries for the Disabled (NYSID) and is seeking a Janitor to join their team in Whitney Point. This role is responsible for maintaining restrooms, common areas, and grounds to ensure a clean and safe environment for staff and guests.
Responsibilities
- Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
- Follows all safety rules and regulations and reports any safety concerns.
- Conducts all job responsibilities in compliance with JM Murray policies and procedures.
- Cleans and sanitizes assigned areas including restrooms, eating areas, and common work spaces.
- Completes tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and sweeping.
- Cleans windows and entrance doors.
- Operates cleaning equipment.
- Uses cleaning chemicals according to Company standards.
- Performs physical inventories and reconciles stock of materials.
- Maintains a stocked and clutter-free storage area.
- Maintains confidentiality of assigned accounts and work spaces.
- Removes trash and recyclable materials.
- Represents JM Murray in a positive manner.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Prior commercial cleaning experience preferred, willing to train the right individual.
- HS Diploma or GED.
- 1 year experience.
- Basic reading and comprehension skills.
- Ability to follow written instructions.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Attention to detail with the ability to problem solve and prioritize individual work loads.
- Ability to work both as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions (hot/cold/rain/snow).
- Ability to interact with the general public in a positive manner.
