About the Role
The Utilization Review Intake Coordinator manages the initial intake and data entry of clinical information for utilization review processes. This role ensures timely reviews and prevents treatment delays by verifying patient information and preparing authorization requests.
Responsibilities
- Supports daily operations of the Utilization Review department.
- Performs data entry of clinical and intake information into the appropriate platform.
- Maintains current knowledge of UR processes and timelines.
- Conducts outreach calls, collects data according to script, tools, and protocols.
- Processes incoming and outgoing correspondence/faxes in accordance with required standards.
- Performs clerical responsibilities including scanning and document retrieval.
- Communicates professionally and courteously with others.
- Adheres to Standard Operating Procedures and maintains knowledge of member benefits.
- Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.
- Interprets Plan language and applies to intake tasks.
- Adheres to company policies and procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in the healthcare field.
- Fluent computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and Internet applications.
- Strong reading comprehension.
- Takes ownership of tasks and drives work forward without constant supervision.
- Applies critical thinking and sound judgment to make informed choices.
- Engages in clear, professional communication and identifies effective solutions to challenges.
- Maintains regular, reliable attendance during assigned work hours.
- Remains attentive and actively engaged during scheduled shifts.
