About the Role

AI Agent Solution Engineer to rebuild Mercari Group's business processes with an AI-Native approach, questioning the fundamental nature of operations when AI is a prerequisite and transforming Mercari's business processes.

Responsibilities

Lead specification development and implementation.
Proactively gather information and analyze business operations, developing specifications while presenting working demos to stakeholders.
Lead the design and implementation of systems using generative AI, including integration with internal systems and SaaS.
Lead quality assurance, measurement, and release.
Design event logging, dashboards, and agent evaluation metrics.
Make technical design decisions, including architecture, APIs, data, security, and access control, and explain trade-offs in a business context.
Own the introduction, adoption, and outcomes of solutions.
Measure the impact on business operations post-release and lead improvement loops in collaboration with business teams.
Drive the entire process from identifying challenges to designing, implementing, introducing, and operating AI agent solutions for Mercari Group's business processes.
Collaborate closely with business owners and domain engineers to define what should be built based on working prototypes.
Autonomously lead quality assurance, measurement, release, and adoption.

Requirements

Empathy for the Mercari Group's and each company's mission and values.
Ability to lead specification finalization and consensus building, taking end-to-end responsibility through production release and subsequent operations.
AI development capabilities (balancing speed and quality).
Proficiency in using AI coding tools like Claude Code in a practical setting, with the ability to judge, modify, and integrate AI outputs.
Ability to rapidly build prototypes and finalize specifications based on working models.
Ability to autonomously make technical design decisions (architecture/API/data/security/operations) and explain trade-offs in a business context.
Willingness to cross over into different domains (BE/FE/Data/QA, etc.) and related job functions, with the foundational ability to self-start in unfamiliar areas using AI and documentation.
Willingness to mentor and coach team members, with motivation for organizational growth.

Engineers in this position, as AI Agent Solution Engineers, will be responsible end-to-end from specification drafting to delivery completion, and subsequent operation and adoption.
We do not shy away from crossing boundaries to solve problems and do not limit ourselves to our specialized domains.
We are expected to proactively engage from the Definition phase, autonomously leading product specification finalization, consensus building, quality/measurement establishment, release, and subsequent operations.
The company utilizes various tools centered around Claude, with other models and tools being expanded and changed as needed based on requests and trends.
