About the Role
As a Senior Pre-Sales Engineer, you will be a technical contributor responsible for building high-quality mock backends, APIs, and demo infrastructure, leveraging LLMs and Generative AI for rapid prototyping. This role bridges Product Engineering and Go-to-Market, creating production-shaped assets for technical storytelling and client validation.
Responsibilities
- Leverage LLMs (e.g., Claude and Gemini) to rapidly scaffold, build, and iterate on proof-of-concept apps and mock services.
- Design, build, and maintain reusable mock services in Node.js / TypeScript.
- Implement contract-first APIs (REST/GraphQL).
- Manage AWS deployments (API Gateway, Containers).
- Handle persistence using PostgreSQL or DynamoDB.
- Manage demo environments using Terraform, ensuring reproducibility and security using OIDC authentication patterns.
- Collaborate with frontend engineers to ensure UI components integrate cleanly with mock services.
- Debug integration issues and support end-to-end demo flows.
- Partner with Pre-Sales consultants to translate client 'win themes' into working technical artifacts.
- Occasionally demo directly to clients, showcasing Kaluza's solutions.
- Collaborate with Design and Product teams for UI direction.
- Develop design ideas to highlight Kaluza’s capabilities.
- Set informal engineering standards for the pre-sales team.
- Mentor others on API design and architecture.
- Act as the resident expert in GenAI workflows for the Commercial team.
- Mentor others on using AI to bridge the gap between 'slide-ware' and 'software.'
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience in Node.js / TypeScript and React.
- Deep experience leveraging LLMs and Generative AI to build apps, debug complex issues, and accelerate the development lifecycle.
- Experience designing clean, well-documented APIs (REST and/or GraphQL).
- Effective use of Git/Github workflows.
- Familiarity with AWS primitives.
- Proven ability to deploy infrastructure using Terraform.
- Comfortable operating with ambiguity.
- Ability to translate vague client requirements into working systems through a high degree of initiative.
- Track record of building internal tools, sales demos, or high-fidelity PoCs using AI-first workflows.
- Understanding of the specific challenges facing energy retailers globally.
- Practical knowledge of OIDC-based authentication flows.
- Talent for sharing UX/UI design thinking with wider product teams.
