About the Role
This leadership position requires a unique balance of technical, data, and analytical expertise with a business strategist mindset. The role is responsible for overseeing multi-disciplinary teams in building data sources, data pipelines, and applying analytics tools and predictive models to deliver data-driven insights, translating them into business value. This role will advance the use of analytics by building strong partnerships across key business areas and providing strategic analytical input to improve business processes, customer experience, and business results.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for defining the team's analytics strategy in partnership with Leadership.
- Define the tools, methodologies, and staff mix utilized by the team, as well as project priorities.
- Define, develop, and implement best practices for data & analytics projects to drive consistency and standardization.
- Drive business stakeholder buy-in for data consumption, operationally and analytically.
- Responsible for recruiting, training, performance management, coaching, development, and retention of staff.
- Builds bench strength, retaining and motivating high performers.
- Oversees the construction of predictive models, data pipelines, and analytics workflows.
- Contribute to the development of data assets as necessary.
- Work with partners to translate business needs into a technical plan, identify available data, communicate findings, and develop implementation strategies.
- Provide consulting support to business areas regarding conformance to corporate policies, procedures, and controls.
- Understand theory and application of current and emerging analysis methods and data tooling to drive continuous improvement.
- Identify internal and external data sources, construct analytical databases, and develop data pipelines.
- Discuss data transformation, integration, and reporting requirements with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Oversee the mentoring and training of team members on statistical methods, tools, and data asset development.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Master’s degree in Information Technology, Mathematics, or Statistics preferred.
- A minimum of 8+ years hands-on experience acting as a Data Engineer, BI Analyst, or Data Scientist.
- Proven ability to develop, coach, and lead technical staff.
- Strong problem solving, programming, and project management skills.
- Excellent ability to interpret or correlate an extensive variety of information.
- Decompose complex analytical and technical problems and translate them into simple business solutions.
- Ability to think conceptually, handle ambiguity, solve complex problems, and make thoughtful recommendations.
- Excellent communications skills and abilities working with all corporate levels including senior management and external contacts.
Skills
- Deep experience with analytics programming languages (SQL/R/Python)
- Deep experience with modern BI toolsets (Tableau, Alteryx, PowerBI, or equivalent)
- In-depth understanding of data profiling, statistical analysis, and data modeling concepts
- Adept in extracting, loading, and leveraging data in data warehouse, transactional databases, object stores & API based environments
- Good understanding of data architecture principles and related infrastructure requirements, covering on-prem and Cloud platforms.
