About the Role

Rakuten Card is seeking application engineers to join its Platform Department during a period of transformation, including cloud migration and DevOps implementation. The role involves developing and operating customer-facing services, defining and implementing system requests, and designing new products and services.

Responsibilities

Design, development, and testing of APIs for Rakuten Card's user-facing website and mobile application.
Implement internal operational improvements.
Leverage AI during development to enhance productivity, security, and quality.
Collaborate with offshore development members.

Requirements

At least 3 years of Java development experience (Java 8 or later).
Development experience using Java EE (especially JPA).
Experience developing RESTful APIs.
Experience implementing quality improvements through automated testing.
Basic knowledge of source control tools like Git/GitHub.
Experience with Agile development.
Basic knowledge of UNIX/Linux-based servers.
Basic knowledge of databases and SQL.
Basic knowledge of networking (TCP/IP).
Development experience using Git (GitHub/Bitbucket).
Experience building and operating an API gateway.
Experience with cloud lift-and-shift initiatives for assigned services and products.
