About the Role
As the Head of Product and Identity Security, you will own two of the three core areas within the Security Engineering team: Product Security and Identity. You will report directly to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and operate as a peer to the Head of Threat Detection & Response. Your responsibilities will span application security, penetration testing, cloud security, AI security, secure architecture, identity, and vulnerability operations. This is a player-manager role where you will lead a global team across the UK, Eastern Europe, and India, staying hands-on with the technology. This is a significant opportunity to influence Tide's cyber resilience strategy.
Responsibilities
- Define the product and identity security strategy in conjunction with the CISO and operationalize it into a funded, sequenced roadmap.
- Lead, coach, and grow a global team across the UK, Eastern Europe, and India, setting clear objectives and supporting career growth.
- Own application security end-to-end, including secure design reviews, threat modeling, secure coding standards, tooling, and remediation.
- Run the penetration testing program across web, mobile, and infrastructure, managing internal testing and external partners.
- Own cloud security posture, including configuration, workload protection, detection coverage, and guardrails.
- Set the approach to AI and agentic security, covering design, deployment, monitoring, and defense of models, agents, and ML pipelines.
- Own secure architecture to embed security requirements from the ground up in new products, platforms, and integrations.
- Own Tide's staff identity platform and the broader identity and access management (IAM) roadmap, including zero trust, MFA, RBAC, and joiner/mover/leaver processes.
- Establish and run a rapid-response vulnerability operations capability with clear service levels and integration with SecOps and engineering.
- Face off directly with executives, product leaders, and engineering leadership to articulate risk, trade-offs, and investment cases.
- Deliver security enablement and security champions programs to ensure engineering teams can move quickly without security bottlenecks.
- Act as a senior escalation point for product and identity security issues, including during high-severity incidents.
- Recruit and onboard new team members and build technical capability through mentoring and upskilling.
- Own performance management for the team, including feedback, development plans, and managing underperformance.
- Define and report metrics to demonstrate program effectiveness, including vulnerability ageing, remediation, secure design review coverage, and enablement activity impact.
Requirements
- At least ten years of overall experience in cybersecurity.
- At least five years in a comparable leadership role, ideally within a technology company or fintech.
- Background as a hands-on security engineer, ideally including application and/or mobile penetration testing.
- Appetite to remain technical as a player-manager.
- Great knowledge of AI, agentic security, and ML, with a clear point of view on how to secure them in production.
- Strong grasp of threat modeling and ability to articulate risk credibly to both engineering and non-technical audiences.
- Proven track record of delivering successful security enablement and security champions programs.
- Highly organized with the ability to operationalize a program and define strategy.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence to face off to executives.
- Experience leading distributed teams across multiple countries and time zones.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
- Experience with identity providers (IdPs), privileged access management (PAM), and broader IAM tooling, such as Okta, Ping, and ConductorOne, or equivalents (Nice to have).
- Experience standing up a rapid-response vulnerability operations or remediation operations function and integrating it with SecOps (Nice to have).
