About the Role

To ensure guests' expectations are exceeded by performing all assigned tasks effectively and efficiently, and providing hospitable service.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the highest level of cleanliness in assigned areas, including furniture, fixtures, and fittings, following routine cleaning schedules, checklists, and procedures.
  • Greet guests and co-workers hospitably, using appropriate and professional language and the guest's name when possible.
  • Anticipate guest service needs by asking questions, observing preferences, and acting on them.
  • Engage guests in conversation regarding their stay, property services, and local attractions.
  • Address guest problems using the LEARN process and seeking advice when unsure.
  • Ensure readiness for work by preparing carts with supplies and ensuring areas and stores are prepared.
  • Identify and report maintenance issues in public areas, guest rooms, or back of house urgently if required.
  • Respond promptly and positively to requests from guests, Front Desk, or At Your Service.
  • Announce self upon entering guest rooms according to company standards.
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards, including brand standards, company standards, and external regulations.
  • Safeguard all assigned keys and phones, keeping them secure until the end of the shift.
  • Ensure lost property procedures are followed.
  • Be mindful of surroundings and handle, store, and use equipment correctly and safely.
  • Protect company tools, equipment, machines, or other assets in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in daily briefings, spirit-to-serve, and training sessions.
  • Check that all appliances in guest rooms are present and in working order.
  • Clean bathrooms and bedrooms, including fixtures, floors, furniture, and windowsills.
  • Dust, polish, and remove marks from walls and furnishings.
  • Remove rubbish, dirty linen/terry, and room service items from rooms.
  • Replace dirty linens and terry with clean items, following correct standards.
  • Replace guest amenities and supplies in rooms according to standards.
  • Report room status to the Housekeeping Supervisor or Manager.
  • Collect guest laundry and dry cleaning within the standard timeframe.
  • Complete shoe polish requests in a timely manner.
  • Check garments sent for laundering against lists and contact the guest in case of discrepancies.
  • Register outgoing laundry on traffic sheets and counter-check with the laundry driver.
  • Ensure laundry bags are ready for collection by the outside laundry at agreed times.
  • Communicate specific requests to the outside laundry & dry-cleaning company and register them.
  • Check returned garments against laundry lists and contact the laundry company for discrepancies.
  • Inform the outside laundry company and guest relations immediately in case of garment damage.
  • Deliver laundered garments to appropriate guest rooms before the agreed time.
  • Ensure sufficient stock of laundry bags, lists, and sundries.
  • Charge guestrooms for laundered garments and record revenue in the valet attendant handover book.
  • Print and provide Room Charges from Fidelio for signature.
  • Ensure a proper handover is done between shifts.
  • Maintain a positive, professional relationship with vendors and suppliers.
  • Collect equipment and report any malfunctions or defects.
  • Sweep, clean, and pick up debris from guest entrances and surrounding areas.
  • Remove footprints, fingerprints, and other marks from forecourt walls.
  • Ensure logo mats are in immaculate condition and report when they need changing.
  • Conduct canopy cleaning as per schedule.
  • Hand out uniforms to associates in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Ensure laundry & dry-cleaning documents are filled out correctly by associates.
  • Monitor laundering quality of associate uniforms and report issues.
  • Check and repair associate uniforms, informing management or contacting the laundry company for damaged items.
  • Assist with the financial administration of uniforms, laundry, and dry-cleaning.
  • Ensure control measures are in place for items like waiters’ cloths, gloves, and chef’s wear.
  • Create and file uniform records for new associates.
  • Ensure sufficient back stock of garment bags and laundry & dry-cleaning dockets.
  • Ensure proper use of the linen chute and secure access panels.
  • Separate and count clean linen delivered by the laundry company.
  • Spot-check clean linen for cleanliness, damage, and ironing quality.
  • Separate and count reject (damaged) linen and report deficiencies.
  • Stock shelves in the linen room in an organized and clean fashion.
  • Separate and count soiled linen coming from guest rooms.
  • Fill skips properly, ensuring all linen is placed inside.
  • Assist the laundry driver with linen delivery and pick-up.
  • Distribute linen to other departments as per Linen Requisition policy.
  • Register the amount of soiled linen sent to the laundry company and fill out traffic sheets.
  • Assist with the monthly linen inventory.
  • Prepare Room Attendant allocation lists.
  • Distribute room allocation lists, pagers, and keys, ensuring signing procedures are adhered to.
  • Prepare ‘VIP’ list, ‘traces’ list, and ‘special request’ list.
  • Patrol the housekeeping office and answer incoming calls within 3 rings.
  • Communicate with the Front Office regarding room allocation, departures, and room status.
  • Receive information from Front Office regarding guests and inform the Floor Housekeeper.
  • Handle all lost property, including receiving, logging, storing, and dispatching.
  • Report faults to Engineering and ensure repairs are carried out.
  • Support with administrative tasks as requested by management.
  • Complete general stores requisitions by the deadline.
  • Maintain a professional working relationship with outside vendors, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Maintain effective communication within the Department and keep the Executive Housekeeper informed.
  • Keep noise to a minimum, as guests may be asleep.
  • Carry out requests from the Housekeeping Supervisor or GXP, such as extra beds or pillows.
  • Assist with changing bed configurations.
  • Check respective stores and linen cupboards and ensure they are well-stocked.
  • Remove and dispose of rubbish from housekeeping areas, following recycling procedures.
  • Remove soiled linen from cupboards and transport to the linen room, separating it from clean linen.
  • Clean respective corridors, including skirting boards and A/C exhausts.
  • Clean/scrub store and linen cupboards on respective floors.
  • Ensure all store cupboards are closed and locked.
  • Conduct a floor walk before going off duty to ensure corridors are clear of items and rubbish.
  • Adhere to COSHH safety standards and ensure safe use of chemicals and PPE.
  • Promote awareness of health and safety, including fire safety and trip hazards.
  • Clean as you go to ensure a clean and tidy work area.
  • Follow company and department safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to management.
  • Complete assigned safety training and certifications.
  • Employ correct manual handling procedures to avoid injury.
  • Protect the privacy and security of guests and co-workers.
  • Carry out any duty/function assigned by immediate supervisor or management.
  • Maintain a high standard of grooming, hygiene, and uniform standards, wearing your name badge.
  • Support all co-workers and treat them with dignity and respect.
  • Develop and maintain healthy inter-departmental relationships.
  • Comply with Marriott International policies and procedures.
