About the Role
Perform quality control tests on materials (sand/rock) for specific product lines using ASTM and AASHTO standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform ongoing lab and field sampling and testing to ensure material produced and shipped meets specifications.
- Conduct problem-solving, data analysis, and troubleshooting related to aggregate material performance.
- Assist with documentation of material control plans, performance data, and procedures.
- Perform service, repair, and calibration of laboratory and field testing equipment.
- Update Quality Control and Quality Assurance test databases and spreadsheets, providing report summaries.
- Observe and enforce all safety standards, advisories, and policies.
- Act as a responsible advocate for on-the-job safety and the environment.
- Provide troubleshooting guidance and advice to customers.
- Work under general or minimal supervision.
- Travel to multi-region locations and work overtime as required.
- Demonstrate commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Promote a culture of safety and exhibit safety-conscious behaviors.
Requirements
- High School diploma/GED required.
- Two years of post-secondary technical education or coursework in laboratory sciences preferred.
- At least two years of experience as a materials QC Laboratory Technician preferred.
- Ability to learn basic aggregate plant operations.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Google applications.
- Ability to lift and carry 50lbs over uneven ground for a distance.
- Requires shift work, callouts, scheduled and unscheduled overtime, weekend, and holiday work.
- Employees may have work schedules adjusted on short notice.
- Must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of PPE.
- Employees required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face.
