About the Role
We are seeking a Junior Business Analyst to join CMC Markets’ technology team, focusing on pricing and risk applications. In an agile environment, you will translate business needs into clear requirements, user stories, and testable solutions, bridging product, development, quantitative, dealing, and vendor teams from gap analysis through to delivery.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, collate, and produce business requirements, including gap analysis on project and product initiatives.
- Communicate effectively among software developers, quantitative analysts, dealing desks, other stakeholders, and external vendors, with an emphasis on pricing/risk front office application development.
- Capture business requirements, produce software requirement specifications, and scope testing requirements suitable for iterative developments within an agile framework.
- Support the management of the development life cycle by assisting the lead BA in monitoring the development team, tracking user story status, and feeding into project/iteration plans.
- Maintain high-quality documentation on developed features for risk assessment and auditing purposes.
- Convey the impact of suggested changes to business and product teams to help determine impact and delivery timeframes.
- Support user-training activities and related documentation.
- Inform the Lead Business Analyst of escalations, issues, and ad-hoc changes promptly to mitigate project risks.
- Provide support to other Business Analysts and collaborate to achieve CMC Group's business objectives.
- Maintain personal/professional development to meet changing role demands, including regulatory and legislative training.
- Provide a clear, fair, and consistent high-quality service that upholds CMC Group values when interacting with clients or colleagues.
- Undertake other reasonable duties, training, and hours of work consistent with the role's general responsibilities.
Requirements
- Financial Services background is essential.
- Proven experience of applying Agile software development methodologies is essential.
- Ability to produce detailed business requirements, configuration management, specifications, Epics, and User Stories to the highest standard is essential.
- Team player with the ability to work independently as well as supporting the Lead BA.
- Strong problem-solving skills are required.
- Ability to take ownership of small tasks.
- Comfortable with contributing to technical and design discussions with product, developers, and business analysis teams.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to work at a fast pace under challenging deadlines.
- Ability to communicate through all levels of the project line and with senior stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate with development and testers at a technical level.
- Ability to build strong professional relationships across the business to enable cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to present new ideas and challenge existing processes where appropriate.
Skills
- Knowledge of FX Spot trading is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Exchange Traded Products for Equities, Futures, and Options is advantageous.
- Understanding of Spread betting is beneficial.
- Understanding of CFD trading is beneficial.
- Strong commercial experience as a Business Analyst embedded in a technology team.
- Experience of conducting and supporting test activities is advantageous.
- Good working knowledge of Jira is essential.
- Good working knowledge of Confluence is essential.
- Good working knowledge of Miro is essential.
- Good working knowledge of Excel is essential.
- Good working knowledge of SQL is advantageous.
- Experience using AI tools to support analysis is advantageous.
