About the Role
As a Test and Development Technician, you will support practical vehicle test programmes from preparation and build through to fault-finding, modification, and test support. You will work closely with Test & Development Engineers on full-size buses, including prototype, pre-production, and development vehicles. This is a hands-on, varied role working with modern bus technology covering EV, hybrid and diesel platforms, both on site and in support of external test and proving activities.
Responsibilities
- Support practical vehicle test programmes from preparation and build through to fault-finding, modification, and test support.
- Work closely with Test & Development Engineers on full-size buses, including prototype, pre-production, and development vehicles.
- Perform electrical and mechanical build.
- Conduct vehicle strip and rebuild.
- Install test equipment and instrumentation.
- Perform diagnostics and fault-finding.
- Implement engineering modifications.
Requirements
- Experienced, practical technician with a strong electrical and mechanical background.
- Confident reading technical information.
- Skilled in diagnosing issues.
- Proficient using workshop equipment.
- Able to work safely around vehicle systems.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and able to take ownership of tasks with minimal supervision.
- Enjoy solving problems, asking the right questions, keeping work moving, and supporting a busy test schedule while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and teamwork.
