About the Role
The Asset Investment Analyst will provide engineering support to ensure the technical soundness, reliability, safety, and cost-effectiveness of the utility and its Electrical Distribution Power System. This role involves leading the development, management, and continuous improvement of cross-functional processes and systems, and supporting initiatives in stations planning, asset management, customer connections, strategic initiatives, and analytics.
Responsibilities
- Lead and/or support the development and analysis of projects related to Stations planning.
- Participate in site visits to obtain information necessary for project planning and execution.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure asset management concerns consider system requirements.
- Demonstrate exceptional communication skills and tact in resolving complex issues and building strong relationships with cross-functional teams.
- Participate in the development of workflows, processes, and models to drive quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of reliability-related initiatives.
- Compare alternatives based on cost/benefit, operational constraints, standards, safety, and engineering principles, and recommend the optimum solution.
- Provide timely support and consultation, demonstrate effective project management and process efficiencies; review, develop, and/or present business proposals, plans, designs, processes, operational procedures, and practices.
- Actively support the Manager in preparing the monthly status report by measuring, monitoring, and updating relevant KPIs.
- Participate in implementing corporate goals/objectives.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering (Electrical Preferred).
- Three (3)+ years of relevant professional experience in utility (preferred), engineering, design, manufacturing, consulting or industry with a focus on data analysis and management.
- G class license preferred.
- Fluent in the application of enterprise tools for planning and project estimation (i.e. GEAR, SAP, etc), general office software, CAD, AM/FM, engineering records, and specialized engineering application software.
- Project Management experience with good knowledge of planning processes is an asset.
- Experience with Alteryx, SQL and Tableau (preferably in a utility environment) is considered an asset.
- Experience with data analysis and data mining techniques to address and resolve gaps in data.
- Fully proficient in use of Microsoft Office including MS Excel, Access, Visio, and other Project Management tools.
- Effective skills in project management operations, budgeting, business process, and productivity improvements.
- Knowledge of ML/AI concepts such as Supervised and Unsupervised Machine Learning models with a demonstrated project or prior work experience considered an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge/training in asset management practices is an asset.
- Specific knowledge in power systems, substation design, and system planning is an asset.
- Self-motivated, operates with a high degree of independence and can visualize opportunities for change in support of continuous process improvement.
- Aptitude and experience in adapting to, managing, and facilitating change, willing to challenge the status quo.

- Proven effective problem-solving and analytical ability.
