About the Role
The Assembly & Integration Focus Factory of L3Harris Space and Mission Systems is seeking an experienced Tool Maker to join the Composite Structures team. This role involves working with engineers on product design, development, and fabrication, optimizing designs for manufacturability, and working within tight tolerance specifications.
Responsibilities
- Read engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics
- Read detailed work instructions
- Maintain accurate records and manufacturing documentation
- Operate mills, surface grinder, and lathe proficiently
- Identify problems and suggest solutions
- Understand and adhere to established policies and procedures
- Understand and adhere to proper labor charging practices
- Perform as an individual contributor and within a team environment
- Demonstrate appropriate computer knowledge
- Work directly with engineers on design, development, and fabrication of new and existing products
Requirements
- Possess a machining and fabrication background
- Ability to work within tight tolerance specifications
- Mechanically inclined with ability to work with very fragile and precise assemblies
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely
- Ability to present ideas effectively to individuals or groups
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
Skills
- G-Code and G-Code Macro programming
- CNC programming utilizing Mastercam
- Prototrak programming and operation
- Working with composite materials
- Mechanical fabrication discipline
- MIG/TIG welding
- Sheet metal fabrication
